I have a much better set of wheels for the probe but they are in GTR2 format and I'm having trouble converting them.Anybody want to give it a go? In my opinion, those don't look particularly better. They still have the streaky, weird things on the rims. I think it's a mapping issue but I'm not sure. If you are good at photoshop you could probably fix it by shrinking the wheel image so that it is smaller and the rim polys get mapped to the part of the image that don't have the rivets. I think it's the rivets that are the streaks. It's not that big a deal though because you really only see it when the wheels are not in motion.

I decided to take a break from the other mod I am working on and had a look at the Corvettes again. I managed to fix two of the three body types today. I still have window problems with type 1 - the 1985 car.
It turns out that the alpha channel was too light on the windows so I darkened it and the cars now look pretty good. I'll take another crack at body type 1 and see if I can fix it a little later. Those bodies really do look quite a bit better than the other one so it will be worth it.

I couldn't fix the type 1 body so I changed the 85 cars to use type 3 and it looks pretty good. This means there are two body types used by the cars.
I'll get them re-packed and uploaded a bit later.

Here's a link to v0.7 with the revised Corvette bodies : www.mediafire.com/download/f2n8fu40d2v95yh/IMSA_GTP_v0.7.rarBody style 1 is in the .mas file so if you can fix it, please do. The differences are body 1, used in 1985, does not have the front winglets and has a different support for the rear wing. I think the two 1985 cars look fine with body style 3. Body style 2 has the horizontal piece in the side inlets and vertical "straps" supporting it. It was used by the two Peerless Racing cars in 88 and 89. The body is selected by digit 1 of the GenString so it is easy to change which one a car uses. I wish the winglets should be made into a separate object so they could be selectable in the GenString. As I was typing that I figured out how to do it and if I ever revisit this car I will. I noticed the pivot point of the Vette's driver helmet is wrong so I might have a look at it again later. I wish I could figure out how to "fuse" it to the body as SBH mentioned earlier. I would be OK with that.

If you want to try what I mentioned here's what you do : copy body style 3 twice, one will be body style 1 and one will be the front winglets. Then import body style 1 as an object and go the material editing section and erase all geometry associated with material WCEXTRA4. Export that and you have the new body style 1 with no front winglets. Then import the front winglet body as an object and erase all geometry associated with all materials EXCEPT wcextra4. Now you have separate front winglets. When no front winglets are used a blank, empty mesh should be selected so the mesh with the winglets should be named corvette_gtp_winglets1.gmt and then copy and rename an empty mesh file to corvette_gtp_winglets0.gmt. Then we have to add an entry into the .gen file and change all cars to have a fourth digit in their GenString, 0 for no winglets and 1 to have the winglets. Also, the other two body meshes have to edited to remove the front winglets. I will do this for the next revision of the Corvette if no one beats me to it. I will also convert the cockpit over because it doesn't seem to have one right now. Feel free to do this stuff if you want to Alex. I am also working on another mod at the moment.

That does look pretty good. I may have to revisit these cars sooner than I thought.
