IMSA GTX Project

I have been working on adding cars to the DRM mod for quite some time. I started with the Group 5 Lotus Esprit and then integrated the Ferrari 512BB/LM that was converted by a few different people. Then I added the Group 5 Pantera and the widebody IMSA cars that Donnie converted plus a few additional chassis types for that set. Things snowballed from there and now we have quite a few more cars.

I have reorganized the cars of the mod so there is one archive with the shared MAS file and each car is in its own archive including sounds. For those who don't have the Historix or DRM mods (and why don't you?) the sounds used from those mods are in two sound packs. If the car listed uses sounds from either of those two mods you will need the appropriate sound pack also unless you have that mod installed. There is also a pack of base sounds from the game in case you need those but I doubt you will. Cars with sounds included use base sounds from the game. If you have any questions about this please ask in this thread.

Note: if you already have everything you don't need to redownload. This is only a reorganization of the archives.

Sure, I'll post some shots. I almost have the first Camaro chassis working. I'm still messing with its brakelights. Once I have them working I'll do it. It's a great looking grid with the DRM cars and the "IMSA six-pack" - Mustang, Vette, Monza, Camaro, Pantera, and 512BB.

I finally fixed the Camaro's brake light problem. The cause turned out to be the base tail light object's texture was set to multi-transparency. When I changed it to none the brake lights worked perfectly.

Now I am converting the three types of Camaro chassis that have rear wings.

I made a lot of progress. I got one of the other Camaro chassis converted along with its other meshes. It seems that Donnie merged a few parts together for the version he converted so that took a bit of work to sort out. I also got three skins adapted for it so there are now six Camaros with a couple of others on the way.

This is my to-do list now:

- convert the other two Camaro chassis.
- change all helmets to use the one for the Pantera (from the DRM mod)
- sort out the Ferrari 512's brake lights, backfires, and rear end texture problem.

Hopefully that will only take a day or two.

I got the other two Camaro chassis converted and they look really good. I have a very weird problem with one of them though. The window edges appear above the chassis. I've never seen that before and it doesn't happen with the other two chassis.

I also noticed odd steering wheel positions on the Monza and Camaro so that's another thing to fix.

I managed to fix that problem. I never did figure out why it was floating above the car but I changed the transparency setting and now it looks correct.

Now I'm trying to fix the problem with the Ferrari 512BB/LM that I wrote about before.

Hey guys. Please check your PMs. You will find a link to the first of the IMSA cars - the Pantera and Ferrari 512BB/LM.

The Pantera is in good shape except that two of the cars have brake lights that are not the best - the square ones. The round ones aren't the originals but they look OK I think. The Ferrari is similar except I couldn't get its brake lights to work at all. Please fix these if you can. If you can put the original brakelights on the Pantera then please do so. You can download the cars in their original form for GTL at no-grip. I can send you some of the files if necessary.

I have just a little more work to do on the other cars and then I'll upload those.

Don't sweat it if you can't sort out the brake lights of the Ferrari. I can use the same round brake lights I used for the Pantera on it. They aren't correct for the Pantera but I couldn't get either of the right ones to work.

In the mean time, I will work on replacing drivers and helmets.

You might have noticed that I have changed the thread title since it seems that no one else wants to discuss their projects and this thread has become all about mine. I'm calling this the IMSA_GTX mod. I am not sure all of the cars in it raced in the GTX class but enough did that it's close enough for me.

It looks like I am at a fairly good point to share part 1 with you guys. I decided to split the cars into two sets - American cars and European cars. Part 1 will be the American cars which are the Monza, Corvette, Camaro, and Mustang. Part 2 will be the European cars which are the Pantera, 512BBLM, Esprit, and a car to be named later so there will be eight cars in total. So far, they work really well with the DRM cars and look great racing with them. I am not sure about the classes. I think I'll make a new .rfm file that combines all of them. I use the 'all cars' mode so I don't worry about classes very much. We can discuss this.

For now, links will be sent via PM because there are still a couple of problems that I am stumped with :

- car seats are invisible from external camera. The LOD values look OK so I'm at a loss.
- some steering wheels are acting weirdly, especially the Camaro.

They all use the sounds from the Historix Corvette. I think you guys (Alex and Donnie) have the version Donnie did of these cars so there are at least two ways you can go with this : you can copy the sound file from the version you have to the ones used in the mod or you can copy the files to the directory used by these cars which is Sounds\HistoricGT\HistoricFIAGT.

I am going to upload part 1 tomorrow (Wednesday, the 4th for me) and send the links then because my connection is really bad for uploading.

The second set is progressing well. Two cars are done and the Lotus is almost ready but the game crashes when I leave the track. I haven't started on the fourth car yet but I will today or tomorrow.
