with the new zxt i get a error opening texture zwart or something for material canopy. i merged this car with another mod, but never got this error with the previous version or the probe. and ive triple checked to make sure the gen's are reading correctly.
I opened it in 3dsimed an no textures are missing. very odd..

That is very confusing. The .mas file has three black textures in it - zwart.dds, black.dds, and vlm_black.dds.
I'll try some experiments and see if I can figure it out.

It was VERY odd but I finally fixed it. The car worked fine for me with other cars from various mods I had combined. When I raced it with just the Probe I saw the problem too. To fix it I merged two materials and changed their texture from black.dds to black.bmp. This was very suprising to me because those surfaces were not render targets so I have no idea why they could not have compressed textures. Anyway, I am going to upload an updated version and the link will be in the first post. Keep on racin'.

Very strange! Thanks a lot though! Atm, my progress with cars isnt much. Im just looking for good sounds for each car, and so far so good!

Sounds are very important. For now, those Renault Turbo sounds are pretty good for these two but it improvements are always welcome.
The link is updated now.
On to the Vette. I found a really good donor for the break lights : the Sauber C9. They're round too so they should look good.
The driver's head is another matter. The head it has now was one I borrowed from another car and when I moved it into position the pivot point was fouled up. I have never had any luck setting the pivot point for them. Have you? I will be happy to let anyone do this who is capable.

Works now, thank you. only issues are the steering wheel. and the headlights/brake lights dont work

That is a puzzler. The steering wheel looks fine from the external view but is wrong on the internal view as your screensshot shows. I suspect it's because the internal cockpit dash is in a different position from the external view. I think the answer is to move the dash in the cockpit view forward.
The brake lights work fine for me but I haven't tried the headlights. I didn't do anything to them.

Good news so far. My first try at the brake lights on the Vette work well and look pretty good too.
I noticed that the backfire isn't working on the ZX-T. I'm not sure what's up with that because I didn't change anything regarding those. I'll see if I can get them going on the Vette too.

food for thought fellas.... screw the head pivot point. I don't bother with it anymore. I explode the driver body and head as one. then save as the drivers name. or save the helmet as different .gmt with no pivot point as the helmets name. then use the same driver body . its a small thing that generally goes unnoticed. so I say the hell with it. obviously its your decision. but why waste time when theres so much that can be done.

Well, I really like the idea but I was not able to make it happen. If anyone can then please feel free and post it for us.
I added a link in the first post to the Corvette T710 GTP. It has working brake lights and backfires but no cockpit. I just realized that I started with the same version as in the add-on set to Merlin's mod but this one does not have all of the work done to it that the other one does. At this point we have two options : use it as an AI-only car or do the conversion again and start with the GTR2 version. I am OK with the first option and I don't mind at all if someone else does a new conversion.
Please give the Vette a try and see if it works for you. As with the others, the SearchPaths are set so you can put it in practically any mod and directory you want and it should work.
I am going to have a look at the March 86G now.
